The VC men's water polo continued a troubling trend in their two matches completing the Riverside City College Tournament Saturday.  Ventura fell to Palomar 15-9 in the morning before dropping the tournament finale to host Riverside 19-10 in the afternoon.

The match was tied 4-4 at the end of the first eight minutes and the Pirates trailed by two, 8-6, at halftime.  The Comets came out strong in the third period, however, outscoring VC 5-1 to take control of the match.  The Pirates had many opportunities to climb back into the contest, but could not take advantage in the 15-9 loss.

Dominic Tassano led the Pirates with six goals while Daniel Amorim netted a pair of scores.  Keaton Hess also scored a goal and J'son Ruiz turned back 10 shots in goal.

The Tigers jumped the Pirates early, racing to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter, never looking back.  Tassano led Ventrua with five goals and Trevor Edwards and Hess each recorded two scores.  Amorim also found the back of the net and Ruiz had seven saves.

The Pirates will next resume Western State Conference play, traveling to Cuesta on Wednesday Oct. 15 for a 3:00 pm match.  They will return to the Ventura Aquatic Center for a 2:15pm date with Citrus on Wednesday Oct. 22.
