Pirates Pull Away from Chaffey For First Win of 2014

Daniel Amorim scored six goals and Dominic Tassano netted five as the Ventura College men's water polo team pulled away from Chaffey in the second half in their 14-6 victory at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  The win was VC's first of the 2014 campaign.

The Pirates (1-2) took an early lead, posting a 3-1 first quarter advantage.  After an even second stanza, the Pirates were up by two at halftime, 6-4.  VC scored three goals to Chaffey's one in the third period before exploding down the stretch with five scores in the final quarter for the 14-6 win.

Trevor Edwards scored a pair of goals while Alejandro Astudillo also found the back of the net for Ventura.  J'son Ruiz turned back four Chaffey shots in goal.

Ventura will next travel to San Luis Obispo on September 19 and 20 for the Cuesta Tournament.  They will host the VC Alumni on Saturday Sept. 27 at 10:00 am at the Ventura Aquatic Center on Kimball Rd.
