Men's Polo Wins Pair at Cuesta

MEN'S WATER POLO:  On the first day of the Cuesta Tournament in San Luis Obispo, the Pirates' men's water polo team defeated two Northern California opponents. They bested Sierra 10-9 in the morning game before routing Santa Rosa 19-6 in the nightcap. Nick Miranda scored eight goals on the day and Tim Allen, Rogelio Coronado and Joe Yamamoto each found the back of the net six times for VC (7-9, 1-1). Sean McGee had 11 saves in the two matches.

Ventura 10, Sierra 9
The Pirates held on for the 1-goal victory over the Wolverines in their opening match. Allen had three goals to lead the way and Coronado and Miranda each scored twice. Yamamoto, Tyler Remnant, and Hunter Shevitt also found the back of the net. McGee had six saves in the match.

Ventura 19, Santa Rosa 6
Ventura routed the Bear Cubs in their final match of the day, 19-6. Miranda scored six goals while Yamamoto had five. Coronado recorded four goals and Allen scored three times. David Macias also scored in the match and McGee turned back five shots.

The Pirates will conclude play at the Cuesta Tournament on Saturday Oct. 19. The play Cabrillo at 9:45 am and conclude the docket against Merced at 3:10 pm. They will host Santa Monica in Western State Conference play on Wednesday Oct. 23. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:15pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
