Pirates' Polo Drops Two at RCC

MEN'S WATER POLO:  The VC men's water polo team struggled to find consistency Saturday, dropping a 13-3 decision to Long Beach before falling to host Riverside 11-6 at the Riverside Tournament. Tim Allen and Joe Yamamoto each scored three goals on the day for VC (4-9) and Sean McGee recorded 33 saves in the two matches.

Ventura 3, Long Beach 13
Playing shorthanded due to a pair of ejection on Friday, Ventura fell behind 5-0 at halftime and never threatened the Vikings. Allen, Rodrigo Siracusa and Kevin Smallwood all scored goals for the Pirates and McGee had 20 saves.

Ventura 6, Riverside 11
Ventura went ahead 3-0 after one quarter, and led 3-2 at halftime, but could not sustain the effort in the second half as the Tigers took control. Yamamoto found the back fo the net three times and Allen scored twice. Nick Miranda also scored a goal and McGee turned back 13 Riverside shots.

VC will travel to Citrus on Wednesday Oct. 16 to resume Western State Conference play with a match beginning at 5:30pm. They will then travel to San Luis Obispo next weekend, Oct. 18-19 for their second tournament at Cuesta College.
