The Pirates' men's tennis team swept past Mt. San Antonio 9-0 in a non-conference match Friday in Walnut. Julian Tellez and Robinson Pelluault both swept their opponents in singles play while Edgar Ploquin yielded just one game in his singles triumph. VC also swept two of three doubles matches.
Pelluault and Ploquin got the day started off right with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, Rafael Matias and Lucas Abreau followed suit with an 8-0 sweep at No. 1 before Cody Ray Emery and Leo Pham-Kobayashi won at No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Pelluault started the singles sweep with a love, love win at No. 5 and Tellez continued it with a love, love triumph in the No. 4 slot. Abreau posted a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and Ploquin turned in a one and love victory at No. 6. Emery won his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2 and Rafael Matias finished the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Ventura continues its road show with a pair of matches with four-year schools. The will play at Menlo College in Atherton on Monday Feb. 12 before taking on Fresno Pacific on Tuesday Feb. 13.
