Tajima and Jabin Move to Doubles Semifinals at The Ojai

Ventura's No. 1 doubles pair of Jinsei Tajima and Philemon Jabin advanced to the CCCAA State Doubles semifinals with a quarterfinal win on Saturday at The Ojai Tournament. Meanwhile, Tajima and Santino Serralonga each fell in their quarterfinal match-up in singles play.

Tajima and Jabin, the No. 3-seed from Southern California, won their match against the NorCal No. 2-seed from American River College in super fashion. The Pirate team dropped the first set 7-5 before storming back in the second 6-1 forcing a super tiebreaker. In the extra play, Tajima and Jabin outlasted their opponents to advance 10-5. 

The Pirates will take the court at 8:00 am at Libbey Park in Ojai against the SoCal No. 5-seeded pair from Riverside. The state championship match will be played at 1:30 pm at Libbey Park.

In singles play, both remaining Pirates had their seasons come to an end in the state quarterfinals.

Serralonga, the SoCal No. 2 seed fell in an upset, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to the SoCal No. 6-seed from Irvine Valley. 

Tajima, who was the No. 4-seed from SoCal, meanwhile, was also upset 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 to the SoCal No. 7-seed from College of the Desert.

The Ojai Tournament wraps up all play at Libbey Park on Sunday April 30.
