The Pirates' men's tennis team completed its first round sweep of the Western State Conference with a 9-0 victory at Glendale Thursday. Santino Serralonga had the biggest win of the day, a love, love decision at No. 2 singles. Serralonga, along with Jinsei Tajima, Valentino Oggero, and Lucas Abreau all were double winners in the sweeping victory for Ventura (6-0, 3-0).
Serralonga and Oggero raced to an 8-2 win in No. 2 doubles while Eduardo Gorgonio Criscuolo and Abreau won in No. 3 doubles 8-3. Tajima and Philemon Jabin triumphed in No. 1 doubles 8-5 for a 3-0 Pirate lead headed to singles play.
Serralonga was dominant in the No. 2 singles match while Tajima claimed the No. 1 slot, love and one. Julian Tellez prevailed in No. 5 singles love and one while Robinson Pelluault won in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Abreau and Oggero each triumphed in Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, by identical scores of 6-2, 6-3.
Ventura will next travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday Feb. 24.
