The Ventura College men's tennis team has once again been named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association while seven team members have been named Junior College Men's Scholar Athletes by the ITA in a release last week. The Pirates posted a 3.74 overall grade point average in the spring 2022 semester to be one of eight programs, one of two from California, to be recognized nationally. Meanwhile, Yuya Koide, Ryan Lam, Regnar Madarang, Philemon Jabin, Santino Serralonga, Brodie Sodersten and Jinsei Tajima were among 55 student athletes to earn individual honors from the national organization.
"Academia is a key aspect of the college tennis experience," stated the release by the ITA. "Collegiate tennis players add to the rich intellectual community found on college campuses across the nation. Our student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court."
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

The Pirates completed another banner campaign in 2022, capturing the program's 14th Western State Conference championship in the past 17 seasons under head coach Nelson Emery, the team's 21st conference title overall. VC posted an overall record of 18-1 with their lone setback coming in the Southern California Regional Finals.
