The VC men's tennis team maintained its roll through the season with a 9-0 sweep at Fullerton on Thursday afternoon. Philemon Jabin and Jinsei Tajima shutout their opponents in doubles play while Santino Serralonga and Ryan Lam each did not lose a game in singles play for the Pirates (12-0, 6-0), Thursday's win was VC's eighth sweep in 12 matches this season and their 21st straight dual match victory over community college competition dating back through the 2020 season.
Jabin and Tajima got the day started right with their 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles. Serralonga and Regnar Madarang followed with an 8-1 victory in No. 3 doubles before Brodie Sodersten and Sam Ashbrook won in the No. 1 slot, 8-4.
Serralonga and Lam completed their love and love triumphs in Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, and Tajima won in No. 3 singles one and love. Yuya Koide notched the win in No. 2 singles, love and one while Jabin prevailed in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Madarang completed the sweep with his 6-2, 6-3 victory in No. 6 singles.
The Pirates travel to Bakersfield for the North/South Challenge on Saturday and Sunday March 19 and 20 before returning home to host Orange Coast on Tuesday March 22.
