The VC men's tennis team continued their torrid start with an 8-1 victory at Bakersfield College Thursday afternoon. Brodie Sodersten and Sam Ashbrook did not give up a game in doubles play while Santino Serralonga and Regnar Madarang recorded shutout wins in singles competition.
Sodersten and Ashbrook posted an 8-0 victory in No. 1 doubles and Philemon Jabin and Jinsei Tajima won in No. 3 doubles 8-2. Yuya Koide and Ryan Lam completed Ventura's sweep in doubles play with an 8-4 win in the No. 3 slot.
Serralonga and Madarang each recorded love and love victories in Nos. 4 and 6 singles, respectively and Lam and Tajima each prevailed love and one in Nos. 5 and 3 singles. Jabin claimed the Pirates' final point of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles.
Ventura (6-0, 3-0) next travels to Saddleback on Friday Feb. 25 and to Cal Lutheran on Sunday Feb. 27 before returning home against Santa Barbara on Tuesday March 1.
