Men's Tennis Ends Season with No. 3 Final Ranking

Despite being the lone undefeated team in the state when the coronavirus halted CCCAA athletics across the board on March 12, the Pirates' men's tennis team was ranked No. 3 in the final Oracle/ITA JUCO CCCAA Men's Team Rankings issued by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Thursday. Ventura (8-0) was ranked behind College of the Desert (6-1) and American River (9-2) in the poll.

The Pirates, along with the Roadrunners and Beavers, were considered to be the favorites to compete for a CCCAA State Championship in 2020. When play was halted last month, VC had clinched the Western State Conference North Division championship and was battling Desert for the top seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Pirates were 6-0 on the season against teams ranked in the Top-10 in the poll, including non-conference wins over No. 7 San Diego City and No. 8 Riverside, as well as two victories each over No. 9 Santa Barbara and No. 10 Glendale.
