Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten with Non-Conference WIn

The Ventura College men's tennis team remained undefeated Friday with an 8-1 decision over previously unbeaten San Diego City College at the VC Tennis Center. Yuya Koide continued his energetic play with another love, love victory in No. 6 singles and he paired with Charles De La Laurencie to win in No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Antonio Rosales, Cody Castro and De La Laurencie were also double winners for the Pirates (8-0, 5-0), who ar the lone remaining team in Southern California without a loss.

Leo Noni and Ryan Lam started the day off with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles, De La Laurencie and Koide followed with their victory at No. 2 and Rosales and Castro completed the sweep with an 8-4 triumph in No. 1 doubles.

Koide began singles play with his big win at No. 6 and De La Laurencie followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Lam won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4 followed by Castro's win at no. 5, love and one. Rosales completed the day with a marathon win victory at the No. 1 slot, winning a super tiebreaker 10-3 after an even 6-3, 3-6 match.

The Pirates next travel to Cerritos on Tuesday March 10 in another non-conference match-up. VC returns home on March 12 to complete the Western State Conference circuit against Bakersfield.
