Men's Tennis Sweeps Visiting Saddleback

VC sophomore Antonio Rosales teamed up with Cody Castro to win their No. 1 doubles match 8-3 in the Pirates' 9-0 sweep over visiting Saddleback on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ventura College men's tennis team made quick work of visiting Saddleback on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Gauchos 9-0. After dropping just five games in the three doubles matches, VC (3-0, 2-0) lost just eight games in the six singles contests in the dominant performance. Charles De La Laurencie and Leo Noni both won their singles matches love and love to lead the way for the Pirates.

Alexandre Campolina and Leo Noni started the sweep with an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles. De La Laurencie and Yuya Koide won in No. 2 doubles 8-2 while Antonio Rosales and Cody Castro prevailed in the No. 1 slot, 8-3.

In singles, Castro posted the first win at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0, followed by Regnar Madarang's triumph at No. 6, one and love. Noni won his No. 2 singles match love and love followed by Ryan Lam's victory in the No. 3 slot, 6-1, 6-1. De La Laurencie won his second point oft he match with a victory in No. 1 singles, love and love, before Campolina completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in No. 4 singles.

The Pirates next travel to Bakersfield on Thursday Feb. 13.
