The Pirates' doubles team of Antonio Rosales and Kyle Spiegelman advanced to the quarterfinals of CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament Friday with a pair of victories. The No. 3-seed from Southern California, the VC duo defeated a team from Mt. San Antonio College, 6-1, 6-2 before downing the SoCal No. 8-seeds from San Diego City, 6-4, 6-2. The pair will take the court in the state quarterfinals on Saturday April 27 at 2:30 pm at the Ojai Athletic Club.
In singles play, the Pirates had three players who were eliminated in the round of 32. Spiegelman dropped his match to the No. 3-seed from Cerritos, 6-0, 6-3, and Charles De La Laurencie fell to the No. 2-seed from College of the Desert, 6-1, 6-2. Rosales, meanwhile, lost in the round 32 to the No. 6-seed from Foothill College, 6-2, 6-3.
Play at The Ojai continues on Saurday APril 27, and concludes on Sunday April 28.
