The VC men's tennis team had its dual season come to an end Tuesday in the opening round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs with a 5-0 loss at No. 2-seed Irvine Valley College. After being swept in doubles play, The No. 7-seeded Pirates dropped Nos. 3 and 6 in singles to concede the match.

The day got off to a rough start as Ventura (12-5) dropped all three doubles matches. Antonio Rosales and Kyle Spiegelman fell at No. 1 8-2, as did Charles De La Laurencie and Thiago Batista at No. 2. Jacob Boucher and Eric Rodriguez fell at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

In singles play, Boucher lost the No. 6 court 6-0, 6-0 before Irvine Valley (12-1) closed out the match defeating Alexandre Campolina at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4. VC also trailed the other four singles courts when the match was clinched.

With the team season complete, the Pirates will concentrate on individual singles and doubles play. That will be followed by the WSC doubles semifinals and finals featuring Rosales and Spiegelman on one half of the draw and Batista and Campolina on the other half.
