Men's Tennis Dominates All-WSC Awards

The VC men's tennis team dominated the 2018 All-WSC selections, occupying all six first team spots in singles, sharing one, and all three first-team doubles honors.
The VC men's tennis team dominated the 2018 All-WSC selections, occupying all six first team spots in singles, sharing one, and all three first-team doubles honors.

The Pirates' men's tennis team dominated the All-Western State Conference selections as voted upon by the conference coaches. In awards announced last month, VC occupied all six first team positions in singles, sharing one, and was honored with all three first team positions in doubles. Additionally, Solal Cherqui was named the WSC Player of the Year and Pirate head coach Nelson Emery was named the Coach of the Year.

Cherqui was named first-team ALL_WSC in the No. 1 singles spot while WSC Tournament champion Priyank Soni was first team at No. 2. Adrien Etiemble was first team at No. 3 and Augustin Lestelle won the honor at No. 4. Rafael Dunan and Rodrigo Perdigao were named  first team at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions, respectively.

In doubles, Soni and Etiemble garnered the first team honor in No. 1 doubles while Cherqui and Dunan claimed the No. 2 award. Lestelle and Perdigao were named first team All-WSC in No. 3 doubles for the Pirates.

The Pirates ended the season with a 14-2 mark, advancing to the Southern California Regional Finals before bowing out to eventual champion Cerritos. They were a perfect 8-0 i WSC play, claiming their fourth straight conference crown and their 12th WSC title in the past 13 seasons, the program's 15th time since 2001.
