The Ventura College men's tennis team has earned the No. 2 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional team dual playoffs. The Pirates (12-1) will host Saddleback College (10-8) in a regional quarterfinal match on Tuesday April 10. Play is set to begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
Ventura won the Western State Conference for the fourth straight season, for the 12th time in 13 years, and for the 15th time since 2001 this season with a perfect 8-0 record. Their only blemish was a 7-2 loss at top-seeded Cerritos on March 9.
Saddleback, meanwhile, finished fourth in the difficult Orange Empire Conference with a 4-6 record. The Pirates and Gauchos were scheduled to play this year but were rained out on March 22.
The winner of Tuesday's match will take on the winner of No. 7 Grossmont (15-8) at No. 3 Riverside (18-2). The other half of the bracket includes No. 8 San Diego City (14-6) at No. 1 Cerritos (24-2) and No. 5 Irvine Valley (6-9) at No. 4 Desert (14-2).
