Pirates Take Regular Season Finale at Grossmont

The Pirates' men's tennis team took their regular season finale in El Cajon Friday 8-1 over host Grossmont College. The Pirates' depth shone through once again with the biggest victories coming at the bottom of the ladder. Rafael Dunan won in No. 5 singles one and love while Rodrigo Perdigao claimed his No. 6 singles match two and love. Alexander Martin and Jakob Rinschen teamed up for an easy win at No. 2 doubles while Dunan paired with Priyank Soni to win in No. 3.

Solal Cherqui and Adrien Etiemble won in No. 1 doubles 8-5 while Martin and Rinschen, and Cherqui and Dunan won at Nos. 2 and 3 by identical 8-1 scores as the Pirates (12-1, 8-0) started the match with a sweep at doubles.

Dunan and Perdigao won easily at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, and Etiemble won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4 to clinch the match for VC. Cherqui claimed his No. 1 singles match 6-3 7-5 while Lestelle wrapped things up with a marathon 7-6, 4-6, 14-12 win at No. 4 singles.

The Pirates begin play in the Western State Conference singles and doubles championships on Friday April 6 at the VC Tennis Center. The team dual playoffs will begin on Tuesday April 10 likely with a home contest.
