The Ventura College men's tennis team clinched their fourth consecutive Western State Conference championship Tuesday with a weather-shortened 5-1 victory over visiting Los Angeles Pierce College. Augustin Lestelle, Rafael Dunan and Rodrigo Perdigao all won their matches love and love as the Pirates captured the WSC crown for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons and the 15th time since 2001.

Lestelle, Dunan and Perdigao shut out their opponents in Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Adrien Etiemble won at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1, while Solal Cherqui prevailed at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2. With the match in hand and rainy weather on the horizon, doubles play was suspended leaving the final 5-1 margin.

Ventura (10-1, 7-0) now has a two-game lead on the Brahmas in the conference standings with one match remaining on the schedule, clinching the title.

Weather permitting, the Pirates will travel to Saddleback on Thursday March 22 and San Diego Mesa on Friday March 23.
