The VC men's tennis team maintained its undefeated record Friday with a 9-0 sweep against De Anza College at the Pierpont Racquet Club. Augustin Lestelle and Rafael Dunan each lost just one game in their straight sets victories while Alexander Martin won 6-1, 6-1.
VC (5-0) took control of the match sweeping doubles play. Priyank Soni and Adrien Etiemble triumphed in No. 1 doubles 8-3, as did Manu Rowe and Rodrigo Perdigao in No. 3 doubles. Solal Cherqui and Dunan won a close 9-8 decision at No. 2.
In singles play, Lestelle, Dunan and Martin dominated at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively. Meanwhile Soni won his No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-2 and Etiemble won in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Cherqui triumphed in No. 1 singles 6-3, 0-6, 10-2.
Ventura resumes Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 20 at Los Angeles Pierce College.
