The Ventura College men's tennis team dominated the All-Western State Conference awards announced last month. VC No. 1 player Augustin Lestelle was named the conference Player of the Year in voting by the conference coaches for his play during the regular season, and Pirate head coach Nelson Emery was named WSC Coach of the Year.

In singles, No. 3 Manu Rowe, No. 4 Cruz Thayne and No. 5 Rodrigo Perdigao all earned first-team honors while No. 1 Lestelle and No. 6 Florent Auteuil were named second-team All-WSC.

In doubles, VC dominated the first-team all-conference awards.  The No. 1 pair of Bill Whitaker and Thayne, the No. 2 team of Lestelle and Damon Mitchell, and the No. 3 duo of Rowe and Perdigao all were named first-team All-WSC.

The Pirates finished the season with a 16-5 record in dual matches, and a perfect 10-0 in WSC play. Ventura won their third straight conference title, their 11th in the past 12 years.
