The Pirates' men's tennis team lost eight games total in nine singles and doubles matches in sweeping visiting Bakersfield 9-0. Bill Whitaker (No. 2), Manu Rowe (No. 3) and Florent Auteuil (No. 6) all won singles matches love and love while the No. 3 doubles pair of Rodrigo Perdigao and Rowe also shut out their opponents for the Pirates (3-1, 3-0).
Augustin Lestelle won in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 while Cruz Thayne was victorious in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Perdigao won his No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-1.
In No. 1 doubles, Lestelle and Damon Mitchell won 8-2 and Whittaker and Thayne won in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Ventura will host Glendale on Thursday March 2 in a match rescheduled from February 7.
