Pirates Men's Tennis Sweeps Another Opponent

The Ventura College men's tennis team pulled off their third consecutive shutout win with a 9-0 win over Bakersfield at home. Corey Karen and Hironori Koyanagi were winners both in doubles and in singles play. Evan Gazic picked up his first win of the season at No. 6 singles.

Ventura (6-0, 4-0) remained undefeated on the season win another win in dominant fashion. Karen and Koyanagi teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a  8-6 win. Guenter Newman and Michael Burr were winners at No. 2 doubles 8-4. The Pirates claimed a win at No. 3 doubles with the team of Leonardo Santos and Victor Ribeiro

Karen played at No. 1 singles for the first time this season and came out a winner in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-3. Koyanagi played his first match at No. 2 singles and was also a winner 6-4, 6-3. Gazic played at No. 6 singles his first match of the season and was a 6-0, 6-2 winner. Ventura did not drop a set in singles play for the day.

Ventura will travel to Saddleback on Friday Mar. 4 for a 2:00 pm non-conference match up. The on Saturday Mar. 5 they travel to San Diego Mesa for a 1:00 pm non-conference match up.
