Pirates Sweep Chabot To Complete North/South Challenge

The Pirates' men's tennis team swept Chabot College Saturday in the finale of the North/South Challenge in Fresno.  Ricardo Martin lost just two games in No. 6 singles, winning love and two, while Guenter Newman won love and three in No. 1 singles.

Michael Burr took three sets to outlast his opponent in No. 2 singles while Florent Auteuil came from behind for a three-set triumph.  Leonardo Santos (No. 3) and Victor Ribeiro (No. 4) were also victorious in their singles matches.

In doubles play the duos of Newman and Burr (No. 1), Ribeiro and Santos (No. 2) and Auteuil and Martin (No. 3) all prevailed.

Ventura, sitting atop the Western State Conference after the first round of play, resumes conference play on Tuesday March 17 at Glendale College.
