Pirate Tennis Open 2015 With Victory

Hironori Koyanagi won in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as Ventura defeated Riverside 8-1 on Tuesday to open the 2015 season.
Hironori Koyanagi won in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as Ventura defeated Riverside 8-1 on Tuesday to open the 2015 season.

The Pirates' men's tennis team opened the 2015 season with a convincing 8-1 victory over Riverside Tuesday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Hironori Koyanagi led the way with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, and followed that up by teaming with Corey Karen to win no. 1 doubles, 8-1.

Ali Bougzoul was also a double winner at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles and Karen prevailed in No. 3 singles.  Matheus Montero won in No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles while Michael Burr provided ppoints in No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles.

The Pirates next travel to San Diego Mesa on Thursday Feb. 5 befpore returning home against Grossmont on Friday Feb. 13.
