The VC golf team posted a score of 378 Monday at the Santa Maria Country Club to win the Western State Conference No. 4 event hosted by Allan Hancock. VC defeated second place Canyons by four strokes on the day and Santa Barbara was third, nine strokes back. Dan Darwin, Matthew Fisher and Ian Chapital all carded a 3-over 75 to lead the way in the victory.
The VC golf team continued their strong campaign with a second place finish out of 16 teams at the Riverside Invitational. The Pirates posted a team score of 379, one shot behind Santa Barbara and one shot ahead of Reedley in the competitive contest. For the second time in three weeks, Nick Bublitz went low for Ventura, carding a 4-under 68 to claim medalist honors.
For the second straight week a Pirate golfer was the medalist at a Western State Conference event. Daniel Darwin shot a 4-under 68 on Monday to claim the top spot on the leaderboard at the WSC No. 3 at Alisal Ranch Country Club in Solvang in the event hosted by Santa Barbara. Matthew Fisher carded a 1-under 71 to tie for second and Ventura posted an overall score of 374, two shots off the lead set by Canyons in the team competition.
Pirate sophomore Nick Bublitz earned individual medalist honors and the VC golf team posted a team score of 385 to finish third at the Western State Conference No. 2 at Oxnard's River Ridge Victoria Lakes Golf Course. bublitz shot an outstanding 3-under 69 to place first in the eight-team event while Logan Gonzalez and Brandon Flores each carded 5-over 77's to place in a tie for 13th for Ventura.
The VC golf team had a strong showing Monday in the Western State Conference opener hosted by Glendale. Ventrua posted a combined team score of 386, good for second place overall, seven strokes off the pace. Nick Bublitz shot a very good even par 72 to tie for second individually while Logan Gonzalez carded a 76 to tie for sixth. Daniel Darwin and Matthew Fisher also finished in the Top-10 each with a 6-over 78.
The VC golf team opened the 2025 season at the two-day, 36-hole Pt. Conception Open at La Purisma Golf Club in Lompoc Sunday and Monday. The Pirates totaled a team score of 406/402, 808 to claim second place of the 13 competing teams with Logan Gonzalez posting a 75/79, 154 to tie for fourth place overall with his 3-over score in difficult conditions on Sunday placing him first individually in the opening round. Nick Bublitz also earned a Top-10 finish with his 79/79, 158.
The Ventura College Athletic Department claimed its 14th Top-13 finish in 19 years, placing 13th in California in the 2023-24 all-sports National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup standings. Pirate Athletics totaled 106 points overall, besting its 105.5 points earned in 2022-23 that placed 12th. Ventura was also 17th for the second straight year in the Daktronics Cup Standings with two-years schools from California, Oregon and Washington.
The Ventura College Athletic Department is proud to announce the transfer of 71 student athletes to four-year schools following their time with the Pirates. 48 of those transfers plan to continue their sport with 34 earning athletic scholarships. The VC class of 2024 will transfer to 48 different schools in 19 different states across the country. Additionally, 17 of the Pirate alumni have earned academic scholarships at their new schools.
The VC golf team had its 2024 season come to a close at the 3C2A Southern California Regionals Sunday and Monday in Bakersfield. The Pirates shot a 390-403, 793 in the 36-hole event at Rio Bravo Country Club over the two days to finish seventh in the nine-team field. Daniel Darwin went low for Ventura at 9-over par for the two rounds, carding a 77-76, 153.
The Ventura College golf team placed fourth overall in the 36-hole Western State Conference Championships Monday at Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills. The Pirates shot 389 in the morning round to finish fourth, and turned in a382 in the afternoon, also finishing in the middle of the pack. The 771 total for the day also placed VC in fourth place, qualifying them for the Southern California Regionals next week. AJ Ryland and Logan Gonzalez led Ventura earning All-WSC honors.
The Pirate golf team came in fifth in the Western State Conference event at Bakersfield Country Club Monday and seventh in the Rig City Invitational played simultaneously and hosted by Bakersfield College. Logan Gonzalez shot a 3-over 75 to lead VC, tying for ninth in the WSC competition and 14th in the invitational. Ian Chapital carded a 4-over 76 and AJ Ryland shot a 5-over 77 for Ventura.

The VC men's golf team posted a team score of 405 Monday, placing sixth at the Western State Conference match at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Lompoc, hosted by Santa Barbara. Logan Gonzalez posted the low score for the Pirates with a 5-over 77 followed by Daniel Darwin with a 78. Canyons remained in the top spot in the conference winning the match, which was rescheduled from Feb. 19.

The Pirates had another solid day as a team with a collective score of 377, finishing fourth in the eight-team WSC field. Logan Gonzalez tied for 11th carding a 2-over 74.

VC placed third in the tightly contested match in which the top five teams were separated by 12 strokes. VC carded a team score of 394 to place a close sixth of the eight-team field, just four strokes from fourth. AJ Ryland and Logan Cook led Ventura, each with a 4-over 76 while Daniel Darwin carded a 78.
The Pirate golf team opened their 2024 season with a solid showing at the Pt. Conception Invitational at La Purisma Golf Course in Lompoc Sunday and Monday. Sophomore AJ Ryland led the Pirates with a two day performance of 80/84, 164, which tied for 20th overall out of 86 individual competitors. Daniel Darwin turned in an 84/82, 166. The Pirates totaled a team score of 410/428, 838 to finish seventh of the 14 competing teams.
Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2022-23, achieving an overall 3.29 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a 3.19 overall GPA in the spring semester. A total of 108 Pirates achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher, earning mention on the Dean's List in the fall 2022 term while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 53 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In spring 2023, 110 VC student athletes were named on the Dean's List with 45 posting perfect GPA's.
The VC golf season came to a close Monday at the 36-hole Southern California Regionals at Industry Hills Golf Course in the City of Industry. Ventura carded a team score of 386-399, 785 to finish sixth in the 10-team event wit the top four teams advancing to next week's CCCAA State Finals. AJ Ryland was the low man for the Pirates with a 75, 79, 154 to finish in 19th place overall out of 67 competitors.
The Ventura College golf team did not have its best day Monday at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo at the Western State Conference Championships. The Pirates shot a 401-398, 799 to finish fourth in the 36-hole event but still held off Glendale and Citrus to finish third in the final conference standings, qualifying the team for the SoCal Regionals on May 8. Jonas Slattum was the top Pirate on the day in a tie for 13th overall.

AJ Ryland shot a 2-over 74 to tie for second individually in leading VC to victory. Nathan Long recorded a 5-over 78 to tie for sixth and Zack Garboski carded a 79, tying for 12th. Ventura posted a team score of 390, two shots ahead of previously unbeaten Canyons.

After a disappointing performance a week ago, the Pirate golf team rebounded nicely, placing third at the Western State Conference event at Antelope Valley Country Club Monday. The Pirates posted a team score of 395, coming behind league-leading Canyons at 372 and just behind Santa Barbara with a 302. Zack Garboski led Ventura with a 3-over 75 to tie for fourth individually while AJ Ryland was tied for seventh with a 5-over 77.
