VC freshman Mason Teron shot a 2-over 74 to claim medalist honors at the WSC No. 2 event at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang on Monday. VC finished first in the nine-team event.

Mason Teron shot a 2-over 74 to claim individual medalist honors, and Nick Burns was second with a 76 as the Pirate golf team won the Western State Conference event No. 2 hosted by Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang on Monday. Ventura posted a team core of 392 to finish three shots ahead of SBCC with Canyons coming in third at 398.

Although the sun was out, conditions were still unsettled with cool, blustery weather and wet grounds. Players were allowed to "lift, clean and replace" on every shot, but the swirling winds still made play difficult.

Other Pirate scores included Jake Yasutake (79), James Rodriguez (80), Michael Ray (83), and Justin Perich (83).

Ventura's next outing will be at their home course, River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard, on Monday Feb. 25. Tee times begin at 10:00 am for the Pirates lone home competition of the season.
