Nick Burns shot a 6-over 78 Monday to lead the Pirates to a third place finish at the WSC-Bakersfield event at Bakersfield Country Club.

The Pirates' golf team placed third of the nine Western State Conference teams at the WSC-Bakersfield event Monday at the par-72 Bakersfield Country Club Course. Ventura turned in a team score of 403, just three strokes behind second place College of the Canyons at 400. Santa Barbara won the event with a team score of 386. Nick Burns led VC with a 6-over 78, followed closely by Michael Ray at 79.

Other Pirate finishers included Mason Teron (82), Jake Yasutake (82), James Rodriguez (82) and Kaden Santos (85).

Ventura returns to the links on Monday Feb. 18 at the WSC-Santa Barbara event at Alisal Ranch Gold Club in Solvang. Tee times begin at 10:00 am.
