Pirates Finish Third at WSC-Santa Barbara

Pirate freshman Alex Millet had an 8-over 80 as the Pirate golf team finished third at the WSC-Santa Barbara event Monday at Alisal Ranch Golf Club in Solvang.

VC sophomore Joey Herrera shot a 3-over par 75 to tie for fourth place overall and the Pirate golf team carded a team score of 396 at the Western State Conference event hosted by Santa Barbara City College at the par-72 Alisal Ranch Country Club in Solvang. Ventura's team score was good for third place, 17 stroked behind Canyons and three strokes shy of second place Hancock.

Conditions for the round were cool and windy at the inland Santa Ynez Valley course. After Herrera, VC scores included: Denis Kakimoto (76), Alex Millet (80), Adam Franc (80), Connor Philpott (85), and Aaron Friedland (93). 

The Pirates will next hit the links on Monday Feb. 26 in their only home event of the season. They host the WSC-Ventura event at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard. Play is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
