Pirate Golf Struggles at Mt. San Jacinto Invitational

The Ventura College golf team traveled to the Inland Empire Wednesday to play in the Mt. San Jacinto Invitational hosted on the championship course at Tukwet Canyon Golf Club in Riverside. The long van ride took its toll on the Pirates as they posted a team score of 406, placing them 12th in the 16-team field. Joey Herrera was the lone VC golfer in the 70's with a 5-over 77 on the day.

Orange Coast won the tournament with a team score of 377, followed by Mt. San Antonio and Cypress, each with 282.

Other Pirate golfers included: Alex Millet (81), Aaron Friedland (81), Adam Franc (83), Connor Philpott (84), and Denis Kakimoto (85).

Ventura next travels to the Western State Conference event hosted by Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch Golf Club on Monday February 19. VC will host its only home tournament of the year on Monday February 26.
