VC Golf Claims First WSC Tournament of the Year

The Ventura College golf team claimed first place in the opening Western State Conference tournament of the season hosted by College of the Canyons at Valencia Country Club Monday. The Pirates posted a team score of 388 to claim the top spot, followed by Santa Barbara at 395 and Canyons at 396. Joey Herrera carded a 4-over 76 to tie for third place, individually, and Alex Millet was tied for fifth with a 77.  All six Ventura golfers posted sub-80 scores on the day.

Other VC golfers included: Denis Kakimoto (78), Adam Franc (78), Connor Philpott (79), and Jonathon Ortiz (79).

The Pirates next travel to the WSC event at Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield on Monday Feb. 12.
