The VC golf team struggled in windy conditions at the par-72 Alisal Ranch Golf Course Monday in a Western State Conference event hosted by Santa Barbara City College. In fairness, most of the teams found the conditions difficult as the Pirates posted a team score of 401. The mark was good for third place overall, behind Canyons at 382 and Santa Barbara at 399.
Denis Kakimoto led Ventura with a 4-over 76, good for a third place tie overall, followed by Brandon Resnick at 78. Other Ventura scores included Joey Herrera (80), Connor Philpott (82), Ethan Winkler (85) and Kyle Dollison (90).
With the result, the Pirates fall back to second place in conference play at 30-5, one game behind first-place Canyons and four games ahead of third-place Santa Barbara.
Ventura returns to the tee box on Monday April 3 at the WSC-Canyons event at Valencia Country Club.
