VC Golfers Finish Eighth at the SoCal Regionals

Teeing it up at the SoCal Regionals the Ventura College men's golf team started out with a solid opening team round in the first 18 holes sitting in fifth place, but they were unable to maintain their momentum over the final 18 holes falling to eighth place on the day. VC shot a team total of 391 over the first 18 holes topped by Nick Bublitz with a round of 75. In the final 18 holes of the day VC put together a team round of 406 topped by Matt Sieger with a round of 76.

Ventura finished the day with a team total of 797 which was good for eighth place amongst the nine teams competing. Their finish placed them as a top ten team in Southern California men's golf. The Pirates stood a good chance of qualifying for the CCCAA State Finals with a fifth place finish in the first 18 holes. The top four team advanced to the State Finals, but the Pirates were unable to repeat their opening round to earn a bid to the next tournament.

Ventura saw just four golfers put up rounds in the 70's on the difficult Bear Creek Golf Club course. Bublitz and Sieger shot the low rounds of the day for VC, but Emil Ozeke was able to put together a round of 76 in the opening 18 holes. Then Kyle Dollison strung together a round of 79 over the final 18 holes of the day. Otherwise all of the Pirate golfers shot rounds of 80 on the day where the average round score for the day was in the upper 70's.
