Golf Posts Low Score of Year, Third Place at WSC Event

In the final regular match of the year, the Ventura College men's golf team placed third at the Western State Conference neutral site event at Olivas Links Golf Course Monday in Ventura, the site of next month's CCCAA SoCal Regionals.  VC posted a season-best team score of 371, led by Patrick Holden and Remy Smaby, who both shot a 1-over par 73.

Emil Ozeke carded a 2-over 74 while Matthew Thomas turned in a 75.  Alex Hood shot 76 and Greg Brown had an 83.

Canyons won the event with a score of 362 followed by Glendale at 368.  Santa Barbara finished fourth with a 379.  For the year, Canyons and Santa Barbara are first and second in the WSC, securing team spots in the CCCAA SoCal Regionals on May 4 at Olivas Links.  The conference's other team qualifier will be determined at next week's 36-hole conference final at Rancho Vista Country Club in Lancaster.
