GOLF: Competing in the 36-hole Western State Conference golf championships, the Pirate golf team finished in fourth place of the eight participating schools at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena. All-WSC selection Greg Robarge was the low man for VC with a 70-75, 145, followed by Aaron Lee (72-77, 149) and Patrick Holden (73-76, 149). Erik Thorbecke followed at 76-77, 153, along with Remy Smaby (72-82, 154) and Greg Brown (76-82, 158). Canyons won the morning round (339) followed by Santa Barbara (358) and VC (362). The Cougars also claimed the afternoon (373) followed by Glendale (381) and the Pirates (387).
Ventura finishes third in the final conference standings, and has qualified as a team to play in the SoCal Regionals on Monday May 5 at Ridge Stone Country Club in Poway.
