GOLF: They have been close to the runner-up spot in the conference all season long, and on Monday the Pirate golf team climbed back into a second place tie on the year with Santa Barbara with their runner-up finish at the Western State Conference event at Marshall Canyon Golf Course hosted by Citrus College. The Pirates posted a team score of 363, behind only SoCal No. 1 Canyons at 345. Greg Brown paced VC on the par-71 course with a 1-under 70 and Greg Robarge followed with a 71. Aaron Lee (72), Erik Thorbecke (74), Patrick Holden (76) and Remy Smaby (78) rounded out the Ventura scores.
VC will next head to Oakmont Country Club and the WSC-Glendale event on Monday April 14.
