GOLF: The Pirate golf team had a strong performance, placing second of eight teams at the Western State Conference meet hosted by Santa Barbara City College at the par-72 Alisal Ranch Country Club Monday. VC posted a team score of 386, one stroke better than the host Vaqueros. Canyons won the event with a 375. Greg Robarge led the Pirate effort with a 74 and Stephan Moffatt shot 76. They were followed by Erik Thorbecke (77), Greg Brown (79), Justin Bennett (80), and Aaron Lee (82). VC now is tied for second in he season standings with SBCC.
The Pirates (11-3) will travel to a dual meet with Mt. San Jacinto on Friday Feb. 21 and will play at the WSC-Bakersfield event at Rio Bravo Country Club on Monday Feb. 24. Club on Monday Feb. 24.
