McIntyre and McIntyre Earn All-State Nods for MBB

Ventura's brother tandem of Adrian McIntyre and Anthony McIntyre have earned All-State honors as named by the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association earlier this month. Adrian, a freshman, was the Western State Conference Most Outstanding Player and Anthony, a sophomore, also earned All-WSC honors in leading the Pirates to their best season record since 1995.

Adrian averaged 20.8 points per game over the season, shooting a combined 55.3/28.7/82.7 (FG/3FG/FT). He also grabbed 5.2 rebounds per game while handing out 3.1 assists. He also grabbed 2.4 steals per outing. He had 12 20-point games during the year and scored over 30 points six times. The Saugus High School product posted a season-high 38 points with six boards and four thefts in the Pirates' WSC-clinching game against Allan Hancock College in the next-to-last game of the regular season.

Anthony, also a graduate of Saugus High School, scored 14.9 points per contest while shooting 54.1/38.6/70.7. He pulled in a strong 6.7 rebounds per game from his guard position while dropping 2.5 dimes each night. He also pulled in 1.1 thefts per game. Anthony had a season-best 37 points with six caroms and three assists against Antelope Valley on Nov. 6.

The brothers helped lead Ventura to a 25-3 overall record in 2021-22.  They went undefeated in WSC North play, claiming the program's sixth straight conference title and stretching the team's WSC winning streak to 25 games. They are VC's fifth and sixth CCCMBCA All-State players in the 10-year tenure of Pirate head coach Joey Ramirez.
