The Pirates' men's basketball team shot nearly 60 percent in the first half Wednesday night, building a 54-27 lead at Oxnard College en route to a 94-61 runaway victory over the Condors. Tone Patton and Timothy Turner led five players in double-figures with 16 points each while Dayshone Henry, Dayveon Bates and Shulton Tobin all totaled 11 points for VC (20-7, 11-0). Ventura is now one win away from becoming the first team to go undefeated through Western State Conference North Division play since 2008.

Ventura hit 22 of 37 shots in the opening 20 minutes, including 8-20 (40 percent) from behind the arc in doubling up the Condors at halftime. Patton scored 14 of his 16 points by intermission and Turner had 11 points with four assists. The Pirates held a 54-27 advantage after 20 minutes of play.

Tobin added four dimes to his point total in the contest and Davion Washington added seven points and four rebounds to the effort.

VC closes out the regular season at home on Friday Feb. 21. They host Cuesta College at 7:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center, attempting to become the first team in 12 years to go unscathed through WSC North play. The Pirates will also honor their sophomore class prior to the game against the Cougars.
