Pirates Overcome Halftime Deficit To Remain Perfect in WSC

The Ventura College men's basketball team trailed Santa Barbara 31-27 at halftime Saturday before exploding for 54 points in the second half, defeating the Vaqueros 81-54. Dayshone Henry scored 20 points on 8-11 shooting from the floor and a 4-4 performance from the foul stripe to lead Ventura (16-7, 7-0). Jermaine Jordan netted 14 with a game-high nine rebounds and Dayveon Bates had 12 for VC. Tone Patton added 10 points to the effort.

Donavan Williams recorded eight points with four assists and Timothy Turner had seven points and three dimes.

The Pirates shot 56 percent from the field (34-61) while hitting 9-10 free throws.  In the second half of play, VC ht an incredible 84 percent of their field goal attempts (21-25). They outrebounded SBCC in the contest 35-23.

The Pirates return home on Wednesday Feb. 5 hosting Allan Hancock College at 7:30 pm.
