On a quick turnaround, the Pirates' men's basketball team fell to Fullerton College 91-58 Saturday afternoon. Just 17 hours after tipping off against Riverside at the Athletic Event Center, VC took to the court in Riverside to complete the Crossover against the Hornets. Lamont Landers had 17 points to lead the way for the Pirates (8-8) while Timothy Turner netted 12 points in the game. Keron Bailey had nine points with a game-high 12 rebounds.

Landers kept the Pirates in the game early with a pair of 3-pointers as VC trailed 11-8 five minutes in. Bailey hit a jumper to make it 13-10 before Fullerton went on a 7-0 run to take control. Bailey then hit three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point shot attempt to make it 19-13 for FC with 12:34 left in the first half. Turner then hit a basket, then a charity shot to keep Ventura within sight of Fullerton, but the Hornets proved to be too much on this day. Despite the Pirates' best efforts, Fullerton continued to expand their margin, and led 50-25 at halftime.

The Pirates were not able to make any headway in the second half, falling 91-58 to the state's top-ranked team.

Ventura next hosts Citrus on Tuesday Jan. 8 at 5:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
