Men's Basketball Falls at Irvine Valley in Tourney Opener

The Ventura College men's basketball team dropped the opening game of the Irvine Valley Classic Thursday 72-64 to the host Lasers.  Trevor LaCount and Isiah Reyes each scored 12 points to lead the Pirates. Cordel Hankerson netted 11 points in the effort while Vida Faniel had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Reyes also had five assists for VC (3-4) and Eddie Cowan handed out three dimes.  Ventura took great care of the basketball in the game, recording just seven turnovers.

VC moves to the consolation bracket of the tournament.  They will face Long Beach City at 3:00 pm on Friday Nov. 18.
