Steven Bush and Elijah Brown each scored in double figures, but it would not be enough for Ventura College men's basketball who falls 76-63 to Glendale College. Bush scored 17 points while Brown put up 20 for Ventura. Vida Faniel pulled down nine rebounds for VC.

Following a close loss to No. 8-ranked ELAC in their tournament opener VC (4-5) looked to rebound in an early afternoon match-up against the Vaqueros of Glendale. Ventura came out with a steady offensive attack in the first half to hold a 39-33 advantage. Ventura was aggressive from beyond the 3-point arc and hit nine of 21 shots at a 43% clip in the first half from downtown and shot a total of 41 percent in the first half.

It was the second half though where the fortunes of the Pirates changed. VC went cold from beyond the arc hitting on just four of 14 shots at a 21 percent clip, which allowed for the Vaqueros to claw their way back in the game. Ventura was able to score just 24 second half points while the Vaqueros put up 43 to pick up the win.

Brown who has been an all-around performer for the Pirates early in the season continued to showcase his skill set adding six assists and three rebounds to go with his 20 points. The 20 points from Brown was his second straight 20+ point game in the tournament. Bush picked up five rebounds and a steal to go with his 17 points. Five other Pirates scored points in the game with Jamal Lewis being the next top scorer at eight points. Bush hit on five of 10 3-point attempts with Brown hitting on four of six from beyond the arc.

Ventura picked up five team steals and forced 13 turnovers against the Vaqueros. Four different Pirates picked up a steal with Lewis topping VC at two steals. Faniel collected six of his nine rebounds on the offensive boards with Ventura pulling down 17 offensive rebounds and 14 defensive boards, but lost the rebounding battle 33-31 to Glendale.

The Pirates will return to the court on Thursday Dec. 10 against Palomar at 5:00 pm in the Santa Barbara City College Classic.
