Meanwhile the men's tennis team achieved a team GPA of 3.38 and each of the eight student athletes completed an average of 13.6 units.

"Congratulations on the selection of the men's tennis and men's swimming teams as California Community College Athletic Association's "Scholar Team" recipients!" said Ventura College Athletic Director Will Cowen. " It is indeed special to have Ventura College students excel both in athletic competition and in the classroom. It is to the credit of both (teams) that (they) have been so successful at emphasizing the importance of academic performance as well as team success!"

The 2012-13 scholar team awards are Ventura College's 21st and 22nd such honors, and the men's swimming team earned its 10th such award. The honor is the first for the men's tennis team.
