Vaughn, Dixon Named CCCFCA All-Americans

VC football wide receiver Terrell Vaughn and defensive back Donyai Dixon were named All-Americans for the 2021 season by the California Community College Football Coaches Association. The pair also headlined three VC offensive players and three defensive players who were named to the Region III All-California First Team by the CCCFCA in coaches' meetings held in December.

Joining Vaughn on the CCCFCA All-California Offensive First Team from Region III were Pirate quarterback Jordan Pachot and kicker Alberto Arroyo.

Linebacker Daquan Benjamin was named All-California First Team Defense by the CCCFCA, as was defensive back Travis Calloway along with Dixon.

Vaughn, who was also named a first team CCCFCA All-American in 2019, set school records for career receptions (145) and receiving yards (1,745) and he was tied for second with 20 receiving touchdowns. The Westlake High School product totaled 2,157 total yards in her career in the Orange and Black.

Dixon, meanwhile, anchored a Pirate defense that was one of the best in the history of the program. From his cornerback position, he grabbed a SCFA Northern Conference-leading six interceptions on the year, twice as many as the No. 2 spot. The Baltimore, MD native returned three interceptions for touchdowns. Dixon also totaled 45 tackles on the season and had eight pass break-ups.

The Pirates completed the second undefeated regular-season campaign in school history in 2021, winning 10 games before falling in the opening round of the SCFA playoffs. The Northern Conference championship was VC's second straight and seventh in the past nine seasons.
