Pirate Football Makes Third Straight SCFA Final Four

The Southern California Football Association announced the four-team field for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs on Sunday. The Ventura Pirates (9-1) earned the only at-large selection into the SCFA Final Four, along with three conference champions, Canyons (10-0), Riverside (10-0) and El Camino (8-2). This is the third straight SCFA playoff appearance for the Pirates and the program's fourth in the past five seasons.

A pair of unbeaten teams with perfect 10-0 records, College of the Canyons and Riverside City College, head into the playoffs as the region's top two seeds. No. 1 Canyons will host No. 4 Ventura while No. 2 Riverside will host No. 3 El Camino College with the winners advancing to the SCFA Championship. Opening-round playoff games are set for Nov. 17 with both contests kicking off at 6 p.m.

Regional championship games will be played on Nov. 24 with the winners advancing to the CCCAA Championship at Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. The state championship will be nationally televised by Eleven Sports.

Ventura had its 17-game Northern Conference winning streak come to an end on Oct. 27 in Santa Clarita against the Cougars. VC gave up 24 points off six turnovers in the 31-7 loss to top-ranked Canyons.
