Three Pirates Named All-American, Six Others All-State

Pirate football offensive lineman Trevor Elbert, kicker Cooper Garcia and defensive back Jaylon Watson were named All-Americans by the JC Athletic Bureau in voting by coaches around the state last month. Additionally, quarterback Jake Constantine, wide receiver Kendric Mallory, offensive lineman Jacob Gamble, running back Thomas Duckett, defensive end Jesse Lemonaire and kick-off returner Savion Simms were all voted first team All-California for the Southern California Region III.

The nine selections for the Pirates are the second-most in the Southern California Football Association, only behind state champion Fullerton who had 10.

Elbert has signed early with recent Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl champion University of Central Florida while Mallory has signed with Youngstown State University (OH), both as mid-year transfers. More signings are expected in the coming months.

THis past season, the Pirates won their fourth consecutive Southern California Football Association Northern Conference crown and extended their conference winning streak to 15 games over the past three seasons. Overall they finished 8-3 under eighth-year head coach Steve Mooshagian and qualified for the SCFA Final Four playoffs. VC also made their seventh straight post-season/bowl appearance.
