Two Pirates Named Player of the Week

Two members of the Pirate football team have earned accolades from the Southern California Football Association for their play in week 10 against Bakersfield. Quarterback Jake Constantine has been named the SCFA Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Week while kicker Cooper Garcia has been named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week honors.  Both were key performers in the Pirates' 48-38 victory over the Renegades, clinching at least a share of VC's fourth straight Northern Conference title.

Constantine was huge on offense putting up a combined 421 yards from scrimmage. He was 22-35 in the air for 349 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another 72 yards against the conference's No. 1-ranked defense.  It is the second Player of the Week award this season for the redshirt freshman from Camarillo High School.

Garcia, meanwhile continued doing what he has done all season, make kicks. The sophomore from Nordhoff High School in Ojai was a perfect 6-6 on PAT attempts, bringing his streak to 50 consecutive successful extra point tries this season. Additionally, he added two field goals, from 30 and 43 yards,  and had three kickoffs for touchbacks.
