Turnier and Simms Headline Weekly SCFA Honors

Defensive end Kenny Turnier and wide receiver Savion Simms headlined the weekly honors from the Southern California Football Association, earning Player of the Week honors for the Northern Conference. Turnier was named the conference defensive player of the week while Simms garnered the special teams honor for week 3 of the season.

Turnier, a freshman from Miami Central High School led the team with nine tackles, six of which were solo stops. He also had two quarterback sacks and a fumble recovery and an interception in the Pirates' 51-10 defeat of visiting Orange Coast.

Meanwhile, Simms set the tone on special teams with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to begin the second half of play.  The sophomore from Fresno Central High School also had a pair of pass receptions offensively with 105 all-purpose yards against Orange Coast.  

Turnier and Simms are the third and fourth Pirates to earn SCFA Player of the Week honors this season.
