Ventura College football is pleased to announce that Jeff Fischer has been hired as the program's new quarterback coach and a full-time kinesiology instructor at the college. Fisher comes to VC after a successful four-plus season stint at Cerritos College where he served as the Falcon's passing game coordinator working with tight ends and wide receivers. He was a student assistant working with the offense and quarterbacks at Utah State in 2011.

At Cerritos, Fischer was part of a coaching staff that led the Falcons to a four-year record of 27-16 sharing the 2015 Northern Conference title with VC. During this time, Cerritos won the 2013 Western State Bowl, the 2014 Golden State Bowl and lost a narrow decision in the 2015 Southern California Bowl in the SCFA semifinals. Cerritos was 15-8 in the Northern Conference during his time on the sidelines with the Falcons.

Fischer was a quarterback for two seasons at Cerritos College in 2007 and 2008, earning second-team All-National Division Central Conference honors as a sophomore. That season he completed 180-of-282 passes for 2,063 yards, with 23 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His .638 completion percentage still stands as a school record, as do his 180 completions in a season. At the time of his sophomore year, the 2,063 passing yards ranked as the second most in a season.

After his sophomore year with the Falcons, Fischer earned a scholarship to Utah State University. As a junior for the Aggies, Fischer saw action in one game, while his senior year of 2010 was shortened by a shoulder injury he sustained during preseason camp and did not see any action. He moved from the field to the coaching staff in 2011, and served as a student assistant working with the offense and with the quarterbacks.

A graduate of Lakewood High, Fischer was a Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete as a senior and was selected to the Press Telegram Dream Team and named the Moore League Player of the Year his senior season. That year, he passed for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns and was a four-year letterman in football and three years on the baseball team. In his junior year, Fischer was a member of the Lakewood High CIF Division I championship baseball team.

Fischer earned his Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Utah State University in 2011, and finished his Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Emporia State University in 2013. In the fall of 2014, Fischer was honored as Cerritos College's Part-Time Faculty Member of the Year.
